When machines overload and break down, the ramifications can be costly, time-consuming, and dangerous. Implementing safety measures — like our MOR and ORI overload release mechanical clutches — can prevent these consequences, protecting your equipment, products, and operators.
Avoid Major Shutdowns
Both the MOR and ORI consist of our standard multi-disc mechanical clutches with additional features that automatically disengage during an overload event. Once the source of the jam is removed from the system, the clutch may be re-engaged to resume operation.
Best for Frequent Overload Scenarios
These clutches are ideal for cases involving sudden overloads or heavy shock-induced torsional loads. Cams are placed on the shifter sleeve and drive cup. In the event of an overload, the discs slip, causing the cams to make contact with each other and forcing the shifter sleeve into a neutral position.
The overload clutch mates with a cammed drive cup, connecting the clutch to either the driving or driven device. If your application requires it, we can provide the ring-type drive cup with adapters to meet your application needs.
Additional features of the MOR and ORI clutches include:
High torque output within a small package
Torque ranges from 10 to 2,400-ft. lb.
Drag-free neutral
Various shoes and studs for customer-designed shifter yokes
To better meet your needs, our engineers can customize our standard offering or design new components based on your exact specifications.
