Hydroformed metal bellows from MW Industries

March 25, 2019 By Mike Santora Leave a Comment

MW-industries-metal-bellowsA metal bellows is a precision-engineered, flexible, metal component that acts as a leak- tight seal– effectively separating two environments from one another. These versatile parts can convert changes in pressure, temperature, and position into linear motion, as well as be used for rotary transmission that maintain flexible mechanical and electrical connections.

Metal Bellows products are used in a wide variety of industrial applications, and are designed to compress, extend, or bend in order to absorb axial and angular movement.

The manner of construction, thickness of the walls, and the materials used all work together to supply the right amount of flexibility for your needs. Servometer, BellowsTech, and Ameriflex offer their expertise in engineering and design assistance to provide the metal bellows that will perfectly support your application.

Formed bellows are produced two ways; hydro-forming & mechanical forming. Both are produced by reworking tubes into convoluted bellows. Hydro-formed bellows will use a die and high pressure fluid to form the convolutions. Mechanically formed bellows will use a die and a roller to cold work the convolute shape. Formed Bellows have lower performance characteristics with thicker walls but cost less to manufacture.
