Things to Consider When Choosing Flexible Shaft Couplings

T.E.A Transmissions says machine designers should consider torsional stiffness, backlash, torque and attachment style when looking to specify flexible shaft couplings.

According to T.E.A Transmissions, its bellows couplings have high torsional stiffness and can be used in any drive system where high levels of motion integrity are essential.

The company says bellow couplings are backlash free and capable of speeds up to 10,000Rpm.

T.E.A Transmission claims helix couplings are manufactured as one piece therefore achieving its flexibility in angular, radial and axial modes. The couplings are capable of speeds up to 8000Rpm.

Bellows and helix couplings are typically used for encoder drives in closed-loop servo system applications.
