R+W Coupling Technology at EMO

The 2017 EMO tradeshow will take place in Hannover, Germany from September 18th to 23rd. Over 2050 exhibitors from 45 countries will be showcasing their newest products and services at the world’s largest metalworking tradeshow. This year’s EMO motto – “Connecting systems for intelligent production” – conveys current topics and trends in the industry. Companies will be presenting innovations in the fields of machine tools, precision tooling, automation components, and customer focused system integration. There will also be a wide variety of special events to round off the show. R+W Coupling Technology (based out of Klingenberg, Germany) will be attending the show as an exhibitor. Located at Booth C36 in Hall 25, R+W will be displaying long standing and newly developed products to introduce people to the world of precision couplings for the metalworking industry.

One featured coupling innovation is R+W’s redesigned disc pack coupling line. A special model is now offered with an integral coolant tube which can transport cutting fluid directly to the workpiece over long distances. The coupling also features vertical support, and special adaptation interfaces on each end. This offers valuable benefits to manufacturers of machine tools with long spindle drives. These couplings are often used in highly dynamic and high speed applications. For that reason, lightweight carbon fiber (CFRP) or aluminum spacer tubes along with symmetric conical clamping hubs are used. The torsionally rigid disc packs compensate for misalignment between the connected shafts.
